I've been a huge fan of Robert B. Parker and Spenser for decades. I have the entire series in hardback with the exception of the first 6 novels which are old paperbacks. During Covid, I decided to read them all in order from the first to the last and found the paperbacks are falling apart so I bought them for my Kindle. I'm enjoying rereading them immensely, though it's interesting to see how Spenser's character has changed over time. He started out in the first novel as a sexual dog, sleeping with both a woman and her daughter (both his clients) on the same day. The Spenser of just a few years later would never do that. It's also interesting that in this novel he reminisces about his mother's cooking. A few books from now, his mother will have died giving birth to him.
